MeTV Subchannel Launches Animation Spinoff
Most American broadcast stations now have “subchannels,” listed as 4.1 or 12.3, that run schedules of ad-supported reruns. If you never knew, you evidently haven’t messed with your TV’s broadcast signal since the late 2000s, when these started cropping up. They can be a good way to pass the time as they air most of the classic TV shows from the past fifty years. One that might be of interest to Popgeeks readers is Comet, a subchannel devoted to sci-fi that has run Star Trek, Buffy, Stargate, Farscape, and most recently The X-Files and Grimm. But we’re not talking about Comet, we’re talking about MeTV, one of the original subchannels and creators of Toon In With Me, a revival of the old-school Saturday Morning format featuring classic theatrical shorts — the kind of thing that used to be on TV all the time.
